Baron Wolman was Rolling Stone Magazine’s first chief photographer from 1967-1970. Baron, then a 30-year-old freelance photojournalist, captured the royalty of the ’60s pop and rock explosion. The list includes Janis Joplin, the Rolling Stones, the Who, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, the Grateful Dead, and many more. Alan and Levi engage Baron on his new book, Every Picture Tells A Story – Baron Wolman, The Rolling Stone Years. It’s a picture book with text, the stories behind the photos (and some of the photos have never been seen). For years Baron was asked to talk about the photos, how they came to be, and what happened on assignment at the various shoots. The Rolling Stone Years answers those questions and more.
