Welcome to Transitions Radio Magazine (TRM) show (#1757), the Voices and Music of Presence; as always, presenting resources for change and music for a changing world. Thank you for meeting up with us again.

This week is a mostly all music show. TRM Folk Music Director Ken Yavit introduces his best singer-songwriter picks from 2017.

In segment one,  Alan stars with a reading of….. Then, it’s on to the music with Byrd & Street’s “Eighty Dollar Guitar”. Rhiannon Giddens brings us “The Love We Almost Had. ” Jack Williams finishes the segment with “I Don’t Sing the Blues.”
In segment two, there’s a bit of political commentary starting with the hilarious “Zillionaire” from Zoe Mulford. (Billionaires are so passe today.) Sam Baker gets a little more serious with “The Feast of St Valentine.” Christine Lavin promotes mutiny in “Turn This Ship Around.” Speaking of the deep blue…Gulf, Remember the Deepwater Horizon oil rig disaster in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010?  The Interior Department proposed removing safety regulations designed to prevent further blowout preventer accidents.  Alan quotes from an article in The Week and issues a call to action. In segment three, David Bowie’s classic “Space Oddity” is re-released. John McEuen and David Bromberg update the Jerry Jeff Walker tune “Mr. Bojangles.” Bromberg played in Jerry Jeff’s band years ago. From the Dragonfly album, Annie Guthrie sings about “Laid in Bed.”  Taj Mahal & Keb’ Mo’ issue their own call to action to spread peace and love “All Around the World.”
